Our 12-month warranty & device guarantee
Every hardware device we sell is backed by a 12-month warranty. You are buying a premium Google Pixel, prepared by hand and supported by a real team you can reach. This page sets out exactly what the warranty covers, what it does not, how software and updates are handled, and the simple process for making a claim — in plain language, with no fine-print games.
Your device carries a 12-month warranty covering hardware faults and defects in our preparation. This sits alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which always apply and which nothing on this page limits. If something goes wrong with the hardware in normal use, we will repair or replace it.
What the warranty covers
Hardware faults
Manufacturing defects and hardware failures in normal use within the 12-month period — battery, display, buttons, ports, cameras, radios and internal components.
Our preparation
Defects in the work we perform: the GrapheneOS install, verified-boot relock, sandboxed Google Play setup, VPN configuration and the operational layer we arm before dispatch.
Setup support
If something we configured is not behaving as it should, we will put it right — by remote guidance, reconfiguration, or repair/replacement where needed.
What it does not cover
Like any hardware warranty, ours does not cover accidental or deliberate damage and ordinary wear. Specifically excluded are: physical damage (drops, crushing, bending), liquid damage beyond the device's stated rating, cracked screens and dents from impact, damage from non-standard chargers or accessories, unauthorised hardware modification, and normal battery capacity loss over time. Loss or theft is not a warranty matter — consider device insurance for that.
Software you install yourself after delivery, and changes you make to the configuration we shipped, are outside the warranty — though our support team is still happy to help you recover. Consumable accessories follow their own terms.
Software, updates and security
Your device receives GrapheneOS over-the-air updates directly, including timely security patches, for the supported lifetime of the underlying Pixel hardware. Keeping your device on the latest update is part of staying secure — and it is free and automatic. If an update ever causes a problem with the configuration we set up, that falls under our preparation cover and we will sort it out. For how updates work day to day, see the support hub.
How to make a warranty claim
It is deliberately simple:
- Get in touch. Contact us via the contact page or your direct support channel with your order details and a description of the fault.
- Quick diagnosis. Many issues are resolved remotely in minutes. If it is a genuine hardware fault, we move straight to repair or replacement.
- Repair or replace. We arrange the return, repair or replacement and keep you informed throughout. Your data and privacy are handled with the same care as your original build.
No call-centre runaround. The people who prepared your device are the people who stand behind it.
Warranty — FAQ
How long is the warranty on a Privacy Devices phone?
All hardware devices carry a 12-month warranty covering hardware faults and defects in our preparation. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
What does the warranty cover?
Manufacturing defects and hardware failures in normal use within 12 months — battery, display, buttons, ports, cameras, radios and internal components — as well as defects in the GrapheneOS install, sandboxed Google Play setup, VPN configuration and operational layer we prepare before dispatch.
What is not covered by the warranty?
Accidental or deliberate damage and ordinary wear: drops, cracked screens, liquid damage beyond the rated level, damage from non-standard chargers, unauthorised hardware modification, and normal battery capacity loss over time. Loss and theft are not warranty matters.
Do I still get software and security updates?
Yes. Your device receives GrapheneOS over-the-air updates, including security patches, for the supported lifetime of the Pixel hardware. Updates are free and automatic.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Contact us via the contact page or your direct support channel with your order details and a description of the fault. Many issues are fixed remotely; genuine hardware faults proceed to repair or replacement, which we arrange and keep you updated on.
Does the warranty affect my Australian Consumer Law rights?
No. Our 12-month warranty is in addition to the guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in our warranty limits or replaces those rights.
